ZEBUTRIM INJECTION 30 ML
10000 piece left
Trimethoprim (TMP) – 80 mg
Sulfamethoxazole (SMX) – 400 mg
The combination (often written as TMP-SMX or Co-trimoxazole) is used in veterinary medicine for its broad-spectrum antibacterial activity.
Pharmacological Class
Antibacterial (sulfonamide + dihydrofolate reductase inhibitor)
Bactericidal effect when combined (synergistic action)
⚙️ Mechanism of Action
Sulfamethoxazole inhibits bacterial synthesis of dihydrofolic acid (a folate precursor).
Trimethoprim inhibits dihydrofolate reductase, blocking the conversion to tetrahydrofolic acid.
The combination sequentially blocks two steps in the folic acid pathway → inhibits bacterial DNA synthesis.
